After a successful launch in June 2017, where over 300 people took part in free communityled walks in more than a dozen different Joburg neighbourhoods including Hillbrow, Orange Grove, Noordgesig, Diepsloot and Alexandra, Walk My Jozi is now back for a second year!
#JoziWalks is a series of JDA sponsored walking tours that was initiated with the purpose of giving voice to local communities and encouraging Joburgers to walk their neighbourhoods and create conversations about neighbourhood issues.
The JDA invites proposals from community champions, heritage specialists, tourism entrepreneurs and anyone else who wants to create a #JoziWalks2018 experience in their neighbourhood.
Specific neighbourhoods have been identified for this project as these are places in which the JDA has a development project or focus. Please see attached list. Eleven walks will be selected and these will take place over the May 19 to 20 #JoziWalks2018 weekend. Each successful walk application will receive R10,000 sponsorship to plan and implement a walk.
Applications to host a walk open on Friday, March 9, 2018. Full details of the criteria are contained in the attached BID APPLICATION FORM also available online at this link.
If you need more details please attend a non-compulsory general information briefing to be held on Friday, March 16 from 10:00am to 11:00am at the JDA offices at 3 Helen Joseph Street, Newtown.
